Giselle Hillyer

Giselle Hillyer is a violinist and violist based in Moscow, Idaho, where she is on the faculty of the Lionel Hampton School of Music at the University of Idaho. Her performing career includes solos with orchestras and recital engagements in the U.S. and abroad. Recent projects include recitals at the University of Idaho, recordings at Washington State University, and solos with the Coeur d’Alene and Washington-Idaho Symphonies. As an orchestral musician, Giselle is co-concertmaster of the Washington-Idaho Symphony, and has performed frequently with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra, the Minnesota Opera Orchestra, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. Dr Hillyer holds a doctorate from the University of Kansas, graduate degrees from the New England Conservatory, and a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Adelaide, Australia. Her early studies were in her birth country of New Zealand. She is also a certified Suzuki teacher and teaches students from beginning up to college level. Dr Hillyer’s students have been competition and scholarship winners at national summer festivals, Suzuki graduation ceremonies, and regional competitions.
