Richard Wagner is known for music of enormous scale and drama, but Siegfried Idyll reveals a remarkably different side of the composer. Written as a private gift for his wife, Cosima, the work was first performed by a small ensemble in their home on Christmas morning in 1870. Warm, lyrical, and deeply personal, it offers an intimate glimpse into a composer best known for filling some of the world’s grandest stages.
