Narratives – Music That Tells a Story
Season 54 invites you on a journey through music that speaks—across generations, across cultures, and straight to the heart. This year’s Mainstage Concert Series explores the theme of Narratives, with each performance offering a powerful story told through sound.
We begin in December with Soundtrack of the Season: A John Williams Christmas, a festive celebration of iconic film scores and holiday favorites that brings together generations through the familiar sounds of Star Wars, Harry Potter, Sleigh Ride, and more.
In March, Voices of the East showcases the sweeping expression of Eastern European composers. Violinist Giselle Hillyer joins the Symphony for Prokofiev’s lyrical and virtuosic Violin Concerto No. 1, paired with Tchaikovsky’s bold and folk-infused Symphony No. 2.
The series closes in April with Emerging Narratives, a concert dedicated to the future of classical music. Featuring the winners of the 2026 Young Artist Competition and the Greater Palouse Youth Orchestra, this performance also includes vibrant orchestral works by Copland, Smetana, and Saint-Saëns—each capturing the energy, hope, and storytelling potential of music at its most alive.
