Gladys Patten was born and raised in Boise where she studied piano from Keiko Thon, ballet from Lloyd Carlton, and violin from Lois Wuertz. Her violin performance emphasis undergraduate studies were with Steven Folks at the University of Idaho.

Ann Marie Yasinitsky, originally from the San Francisco bay area, is a Washington State University Professor Emerita. She taught flute, chamber music, music history and theory, and performed with the Solstice Wind Quintet, in residence at WSU, for twenty-five years.
